If you wish to make use of our expertise, you can submit your enquiry to us via email or telephone. You are also warmly invited to visit our office to discuss your requirements and explore the possibilities. In some cases, a site visit may be necessary to assess the project location and define the final scope of work. Based on your requirements, timeline, and budget, we will prepare a tailored quotation for you.
Once the quotation is approved, we get to work immediately. This involves developing the design and translating it into detailed working drawings, which are created by our team of experienced engineers. We ensure that your preferences for style and sustainability are carefully considered, so you can enjoy the interior for many years to come. If desired, we can involve an interior architect to collaborate with you in creating a definitive and optimal design.
Once the working drawings are approved, we order all necessary materials. We work with a trusted network of suppliers and manufacturers. When the materials arrive, we commence the production of your bespoke items. With our experienced craftsmen and state-of-the-art machinery, no challenge is too great.
The custom-made items, along with any additional materials, are carefully packaged for transport to the project site. Transportation is handled either with our in-house logistics or using a container or lorry organised by you.
Whether the project is domestic or international, everything comes together on-site. Our experienced team ensures that the installation is carried out precisely according to the design. We take great care to work safely and minimise disruption to you during the process.
It is essential that every project runs smoothly and that you are relieved of any concerns. To achieve this, we appoint a dedicated project manager who will oversee the schedule and serve as your primary point of contact throughout the project. The project manager ensures that the project is executed exactly as agreed, reflecting our commitment: What we promise, we deliver!
Kranendonk B.V. installs both conventional and modular wall and ceiling systems. Conventional systems are constructed using panel materials laminated with hard plastic finishes, such as Formica, Polyrey, Perstorp, and Duropal. Modular systems use prefabricated wall and ceiling panels made of insulated materials, including Inexa TNF, Isolamin, Norac, and MBM. These panels are typically finished with a vinyl decor, although panels with stainless steel finishes are also widely used. Where required by relevant authorities, we provide materials with MED certification.
To facilitate the renovation of existing accommodations, Kranendonk has developed a new system called the Accommodation Panelling Upgrading System. This system involves covering existing walls with a new finish made from galvanised steel panels coated with vinyl. This finish is identical to that of modular accommodation panels. By applying this system, the walls are restored to like-new condition. Since the new finish is installed over the existing walls, there is no need for demolition or removal, resulting in both cost and time savings.
We supply and install all interior doors for accommodations, including cabins, sanitary areas, communal spaces, galleys, stairwells, and workspaces. The doors fully comply with fire safety standards set by maritime authorities (Class C, Class B, and Class A doors) and are MED-certified. Kranendonk also provides all associated fittings and hardware. In addition to interior doors, we can manufacture and supply wooden exterior doors, made of teak or other wood species.
Kranendonk also supplies a variety of top flooring options, including vinyl finishes, composite flooring, tiled floors, rubber mortar floors, and asphalt floors. Flooring is a critical component of ship accommodations, with high standards for durability and compatibility with panelling and interior installations. Moreover, ship floors must meet the requirements of classification societies and possess MED certification. To ensure these quality standards, Kranendonk collaborates with reputable manufacturers specialising in ship flooring.
In addition to top flooring options, Kranendonk also supplies a range of subflooring solutions. The choice of subflooring for a specific space on board depends on its intended use and the surrounding areas. Examples include A-60 subfloors (60-minute fire-resistant), sound-insulating subfloors, and screed floors. Based on the guidelines outlined in SOLAS (Safety of Life at Sea), Kranendonk’s specialists, in consultation with the classification society, determine the appropriate type of subfloor to be installed. All floor types are certified to meet the standards for use on board ships and offshore installations.
Floor coverings are an essential part of any interior. For every area on board, we provide a suitable type of floor covering in colours that complement the overall interior. Options include carpet, marmoleum, vinyl, or studded rubber flooring. Before installation, we level the subfloor to ensure a smooth, even finish. Additionally, we supply various types of plastic and tiled floors.
For galleys, laundries, sanitary areas, and other wet spaces, water resistance and waterproofing are critical. Seamless plastic floors or liquid-tight tiled floors are the ideal solutions. Skirting boards in these areas are also sealed to the walls, up to a height of approximately 70 millimetres, creating a fully watertight basin. Epoxy composite screed floors and PU resin floors are available in almost any colour combination, with a choice of glossy or matte finishes. These plastic floors can also be supplied in anti-slip versions.
Floors in workspaces and cargo holds on board ships are subject to high demands. They must withstand continuous heavy loads, making durability and strength paramount. For these applications, Kranendonk provides rubber mortar and asphalt floors. Both floor types meet the required standards and are resistant to all weather conditions. They can also be used on exterior decks if necessary. For years, we have been applying asphalt floors to freezer trawlers. We also offer repair services for existing asphalt surfaces.
Kranendonk specialises in the repair and renovation of wooden decks. Exterior wooden decks are subject to harsh conditions and are prone to wear and tear. We can restore or renew wooden decks using the wood species of your choice.
If you have polyester damage or need polyester applied to a surface on board or onshore, Kranendonk is the right choice. With years of experience, we can apply polyester to a variety of surfaces, whether wood, steel, decks, doors, cargo holds, or large warehouses. Our team is happy to advise you on the properties, colours, and other details of polyester.
The design, delivery, and installation of insulation systems, particularly for cold storage and freezing compartments on board refrigerated ships and fishing vessels, has been a core discipline of Kranendonk since its founding. Until the early 1990s, this was the primary focus of the company, with over 100 refrigerated ships and freezer trawlers outfitted with insulation and finishing during that time. The fishing sector remains an important market for Kranendonk. In addition to insulation systems, we now focus on new construction, renovations, conversions, and repairs on board refrigerated ships and fishing vessels. As a market leader, Kranendonk has the expertise and knowledge required for the installation of insulation systems. Beyond insulation and outfitting for freezing compartments, we also install appropriate insulation for provision coolers and freezers, pipes, and accommodations, all in compliance with modern industrial standards.
Furniture for cabins, mess rooms, recreation areas, sanitary facilities, offices, and wheelhouses – essentially the entire accommodation – is digitally designed and drafted in AutoCAD by our in-house designers, in consultation with the client. Using these working drawings, our craftsmen manufacture the furniture in our workshop. All furniture is custom-made to maximise the efficient use of space on board. The furniture is constructed from multiplex board materials, finished with either hard plastic laminate or wood veneer to ensure durability and a high-quality finish.
Kranendonk provides innovative and durable solutions for sanitary facilities on board ships or platforms. Whether it’s wet units in crew cabins or general-use toilet areas, we offer custom solutions for every space. By collaborating with carefully selected suppliers, we ensure the highest seaworthy quality.
The galley is a vital area on a ship, where the cook must have sufficient space and equipment to prepare meals for the crew. The layout, equipment, and hygiene standards in the galley are of utmost importance. Easily cleanable materials are essential, as is avoiding seams and crevices. The kitchen design can be based on wooden furniture combined with stainless steel or composite worktops. If desired, we can also deliver a complete stainless steel kitchen fit-out in collaboration with reputable marine kitchen suppliers.
